First initiated after a silent retreat in a local Benedictine Monastery, SUBLIMATIO MORTIS decided to channel this monastic experience in inner working and Silence into audible form using their own particular ritualistic approach to sound and vibration.
The essence of the transubstantiation process is mostly known through the Eucharist ritual as performed during the last supper, as well as the Catholic Church even today, in which the wine is transformed into the “blood of Christ” and the bread into his “body”. Though this ritual actually originated with the cult of Mithra, having wine and bread transformed into Mithra’s blood and body, and centuries later adapted to the Christian rituals, this is not exactly how SUBLIMATIO MORTIS experiences this most symbolic of alchemic operation.
To re-intergrate Being with the First Principle by realizing that we are a manifestation of the uncreated Oneness, not separated from it. Our perception of separation is a natural consequence of our actual materialization as beings ruled by senses and physically limited by the concepts of time and space. We are but strangers here. Through certain inner-alchemic operations, one can peel off layers of gross matter and purify the subtle. Transforming impermanent, transient base matter into a permanent supra-natural state of non-defined essence.
This sonic offering is SUBLIMATIO MORTIS own attempt to bring into audio form this most sacred of Gnostic ritual and breathe into it its original meaning. We offer no guidelines nor hold any expectations. Each individual will experience this ritual in the solitude and silence of his own inner temple. As it must be.

SUBLIMATIO MORTIS was created out of a need to experiment further the inner-alchemic process of the Sublimation of Death. Through the practice of meditative rituals closely related to a form of mortification through the “night of the soul”, combined with the personal praxis of each member. The aim is to sever the roots of all attachments and to ultimately cut through the ego and thus, awaken pure awareness and perceive reality as it truly is.
SUBLIMATIO MORTIS explores the dark pathways of the mind through rituals of inner alchemy combining harsh drones and various soundscapes with deep Tibetan style overtone singing to create contemplative mantras of a Gnostic essence. A transcendental soundtrack to profound meditative ritual work. The use of sound and vibration, as well as the recursive and monotonous chanting in a ritual context, is strongly believed to enhance the meditative state and therefore, accentuate further the sublimation of the practitioner into the void of emptiness.
These sonic offerings might generate unease and discomfort as the practitioner is exposed to the darker aspects of inner-workings, although the underlying purpose of the practice is to enlighten and not to cultivate more obscuration, the deep contemplative experience is not always easy and without hardship.
SUBLIMATIO MORTIS has nothing to do with the recognized understanding of music as it is not bound to any structures or rules of the art. It is a ritualized immersive experience in which the listener takes part in the ritual as opposed to merely be just an outside spectator.
Who are in SUBLIMATIO MORTIS individually is not important. We are SUBLIMATIO MORTIS, and SUBLIMATIO MORTIS is ourselves. There is no separation.
